our cabin at the Kilauea Volcano National Park, cabin was built in 1922, all updated and cute and cozy! We were inside when the earthquake hit, our little cabin shook violently!

Driving along Chain of Craters Road, the land next to the water is all new, added by volcano. We drove this road from the park, to down by the water, to where the road just stopped. In Hawaii, the road does not go on forever! This was an amazing drive, driving through lots of lava flows, different shades of gray and black with scruffy plants, to this.
In 2003 this road was covered by lava, here I am, literally at the end of the road! Can you see the fern growing out of the lava? It's to the right.
