Chistmas 2008 in New Jersey

We spent the weekend before Christmas trying to get settled in Georgia. Not quite done, but things are coming along. Then Monday we drove to New Jersey. Here's Jon and Sam in Virginia. We took 2 days to drive up, arriving at Kathleen's on Tuesday afternoon. Margeaux and Mike on Christmas Day. They are here from London, was wonderful seeing them.
Our hosts, Charlie and Kathleen. Charlie played Santa for us, you can't tell but he is wearing a UT Santa's hat. He is dressed in his scrubs because that morning he had to go in to sew a guy's ear back on that had been hit by a beer bottle Christmas Eve. . . . .
Christmas Day Kathleen and Charlie prepared a delicious dinner, shrimp caesar salad, prime rib, corn casserole, green beans, mashed potatoes, and cherry pie. We felt quite fat and happy! Here's Jon, peeling apples for the apple pie I made. You can tell he just loves doing this.
The day after Christmas we went to Macy's where we bought a lot at their great sale. We both needed some winter clothing and we bought some household goods, including a new set of everyday flatware because we are missing all our spoons!! Below, we're ready to go out to dinner, where Jon's proudly wearing his new winter coat. We went to a fabulous Italian restaurant. (Needless to say, Jon and I both need to go on diets now.) Kathleen and Charlie were wonderful hosts and it was great being all together.
We decided to go back in one day, so left early Sunday morning. It took us 13 hours. I'm afraid we've ruined Sam, he's told us he does not like traveling, by plane or car!!

Merry Christmas!

Here is Chase with his kindergarten class wearing the shirts they made. He's the 2nd one from the left on the 2nd row - the really happy one! It snowed in Houston yesterday - his first snow!

All Moved In

First delivery Thanksgiving Day, then the big shipment from Hawaii on 12/3, then on 12/7 the NC furniture purchases arrived, and finally the last small shipment from Hawaii on 12/8. We are slowing settling in. The house is still a mess and have a lot to do, but know we're going to enjoy living here. I admit that winter is not my favorite month, but am enjoying these brisk cool days, for a change. Once the place is no longer a mess, I'll start posting pictures again!
