our new home

Sam is showing our new home.  He gets the entire yard and just loves it.  Notice the Ko'olau Mountains in the background.  An extinct volcano, 3000' - but just a few miles from the beach.  We love our neighborhood.

Back in Hawaii!

I suppose people had given up on my blog. But now, surprise surprise, after less than 2 years in Georgia, during which time Jon spent 10 months in Iraq, we are back in Hawaii! We arrived a little over a month ago, and are almost settled in our new home.  

Our first dinner back in Hawaii.  We were greeted at the airport and presented with many leis, such a nice Hawaii welcome!  Then ran into an old DeRussy friend, Lynne, just as we were going in to dinner, a nice surprise.  I think we were a bit jet lagged and couldn't believe we were actually back! 

 We stayed at the Hale Koa for about 2 weeks while waiting for our furniture.  (already had the house, but not our stuff)  Every morning I'd take a walk on Waikiki beach.  Here's Diamond Head one morning. 

And of course had to enjoy the beautiful sunsets!

Mid Tour Party

We're over halfway through the deployment! We had a party where we had the kids be recruits. We had an obstacle course for them, was a lot of fun! Here are the recruits:

Thanksgiving & East Texas

Spent Thanksgiving at Robert's and then went to San Augustine for the weekend. Below is the old barn.
